Park Blvd Beautification Project

Hello Neighbors –

We are planning on starting a project to clean up Park Blvd. We will be starting our project at the Park/Government St. entrance. The project will move in phases one block at a time.

If this is something that you are interested in seeing happen please consider making a donation specifically for this project. You can donate funds for this project here:

We will initially be doing all the manual labor that doesn’t require much money such as raking, removing aspidistra, removing other trash, etc. In the second phase we are wanting to remove small water oaks and Red oaks so we can replant with live oaks, fill in areas with new sod, mulch trees, grind up stumps along median, and have trees trimmed. The third phase would be to look a the possibility of a larger signs with lights at each end of the blvd. We would also like to try and get irrigation at the Government St. entrance to be able to plant flower beds.

Our ability to do some of this project depends on donations we raise for this project, and what help we may be able to get from the city since this is city property. We are also currently talking with Baton Rouge Green to see if there is a possibility of funds or assistance from them.

Some of this is quite ambitious, but I think by cleaning up this main artery and showing that we care about our public spaces it will lead to others respecting the area.

If you have any questions or would like to volunteer to help in any way you can email me at c.alex.tucker@gmail.com

FYI – the board is currently working to get a note out to the neighborhood, and trying to push our board meeting up to discuss the recent security issues on Wisteria.

Thank you,

Alex Tucker
President, GDCA
