New Business

Croquet day at City Park:

We had initially planned to meet on Friday at 8:45 AM, but the date has now changed to this Friday, October 24th. Please arrive at 8:45 AM and wear white! George will be our fearless teacher (Red Stick) and will provide all the necessary equipment, which is free of charge.

Susan distributed the rules at the last meeting, but if you did not receive them, please “Google” and read through them. Our confirmed headcount for participation is 8 people. After this session, we will discuss a date for a fun neighborhood tournament.

Champagne Stroll:

Heather has new graphics this year that look great! Glasses and champagne have been received. Ted dropped off checks, and they will be delivered to homeowners. Cindy and Heather will be delivering glasses and champagne the week before our event, November 2nd!.  Houses on the stroll: 2201 Myrtle Ave, 225 Kleinert, 2142 Oleander, and 840 Park. Additional funds will go to 840 Park for more substantial food. Instagram posts will omit addresses.

Heather hired Flip Photo for video and photos. Revenue after expenses is around $1,500. Each house will host approximately 45 minutes, except for the last home.

Pouring assignments:

  • 2201 Myrtle – Susan/Babette/Heather
  • 225 Kleinert – Sydney/Anita
  • 2142 Oleander – Jason/Lee
  • 840 Park – John/Michael/Kay
  • Sydney will hire Mauricio, a cleaning person, for the last home.

Fall Picnic Debrief:

Great turnout with about 100 attendees, lots of families. The jumpy house was a big hit, and the food was delicious—idea for next year: live music (trio or small band). Heather’s photos turned out great, and she will explore live music options.

  • Glass ½ Full Recycling:

The board discussed donating all discarded glass to Glass ½ Full. Pickup is at the downtown market. Hosts should place bottles back in cases for pickup. Heather’s daughter’s boyfriend can assist with drop-off. Photos will be taken for social media. Susan proposed a neighborhood-wide collection (approx. $25/home). The board will begin educating residents and planning logistics.

Future Event Ideas:

The board discussed adding another event, such as a Wine Walk, since the Champagne Stroll is so popular. Timing could be between January and Easter, though the calendar is already full of social events.

Pedal Pub / Holiday Lights Contest:

Pedal Pub event approved for the Holiday Lights & Decor Contest. The party will start at Ted’s home (2225 Oleander) at 6:30 PM. Heather invited everyone to her ‘Wistmas’ party on December 6.

Items for Newsletter:

  • Fall Picnic recap with photos
  • Champagne Stroll sellout — Flip Photo video and pictures
  • Croquet (next week, October 24) — photos to follow

Security Update:

Streetlight upgrades to LED completed — brighter lighting. Residents can call Entergy to add lights at a low cost.

Financial update:

Ted has been working on this and just recently sent out to the board so you should have received the email. Membership numbers rose due to ticket sales for the stroll since they get a discount when enrolling.

November Meeting:

Dickey will host the November meeting. The board will form a committee for the Holiday Light & Decor judging.
